Cottage Garden Whimsy

This vibrant work of Joy was inspired by childhood visits to the cottage gardens of friends and family on our return visits back to England. I loved getting lost in greens with pops of bright colors that are such a balm for the soul.

I’m often asked what I do when I get stuck on a painting—do I keep working on it or switch to another painting? I sometimes let the painting rest, to see what emerges or listen to what the painting needs, as was the case with Cottage Garden Whimsy. Listening to a painting is always interesting to me because I really do hear the paintings speaking—sometimes they are clear in what they need and sometimes it's more of a 'not this, I need more of that' kind of whisper.

With this painting in your home or office (or home office), you can have that feeling of wonder and whimsy every time you look at it!
