Glynne James is a contemporary British painter whose work reimagines the traditional English landscape through a modern, often industrial lens. Based in Lincolnshire, he is best known for his "temporal" approach to the Fens—a style that captures the passage of time on a single canvas.

Instead of a static snapshot, James often divides his paintings into vertical segments to show shifts in light, weather, or land use. He avoids "chocolate box" nostalgia, choosing instead to document the 21st-century reality of the countryside:
The Industrial Edge: He integrates wind farms, power stations, and polythene-covered crops into his horizons, treating them as integral parts of the modern environment.
Vibrant Palette: His use of color is bold and precise, highlighting the intense yellows of rapeseed or the chemical blues of flax fields.
Atmospheric Light: His work leans toward Luminism, focusing on the dramatic, shifting skies and flat, expansive horizons of East Anglia.

James’s work is a "wake-up call" for the viewer. By juxtaposing natural beauty with human intervention, he challenges us to see the landscape as a living, evolving, and often fragile space rather than a historical relic.
